The fact that the work extended over nearly 150 years makes this altarpiece one of the most interesting in Mallorca. Among the known artists who worked on it are Pere Pou, Pere Joan Pinya, Gregori Alex and Gregori Herrera, among others. The three tiers show the evolution of the Baroque style without compromising the harmony of the whole. Special attention should be given to the sculpture of Saint John the Baptist, which comes from earlier altarpieces and has been associated by some authors with works influenced by the Sagrerian style.
