Muro and Platja de Muro

The name of Muro evokes a fascinating duality: the vibrant energy of Platja de Muro, with its six kilometres of white sand and exceptional waters, and the tranquillity of the inland town, which stands as a living testament to traditional Mallorca in the heart of the north. This municipality is not only a benchmark for international sun-and-beach tourism, but also a territory where the natural environment of s’Albufera and its rich cultural and wine heritage shape a unique and distinctive identity. From cycling tourism and water sports to the discovery of its gastronomic assets, Muro presents itself as a mosaic of experiences that blend Mediterranean character with sustainability.

The PSTD

The main objective of this Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination is to transform Muro into a benchmark for accessibility, smart management and environmental respect. The project seeks to highlight environmental and cultural assets that have so far been underused, acting as a key instrument to reduce seasonality and create a strong connection between the coastline and the traditional town centre. Funded by the European NextGenerationEU funds, this plan is committed to the digitalisation of tourism management and the green transition, ensuring that Muro’s wealth is preserved as a model of sustainable tourism for future generations.
